Jungle Quest is a puzzle solving adventure. Unlike the endless puzzles of matching three of the same type of objects, each puzzle board has an objective. Some of the ruins have jewels sparkling inside. Match three of the ruins to release the jewel. Once all jewels have been collected, a mystical ruin is lit and the level ends. Different types of puzzles end each chapter.

Magical statues and spells purchased with gold coins granted at the end of each puzzle. Various trophies can be collected for achievements such as being in the top three on the scoreboard, or going for a few levels without using a spell. The speed at which the level is completed depends on the type of ribbon earned and the amount of gold coins received at the completion of the level.

The puzzle boards for Jungle Board are varied in shape and complexity. Gone is the rectangular boards of the past. Each ruin is designed differently and gems sparkle inside. It is very easy to see the colorful gems. The ruins break in a series of tiny explosions. Some of the spells are unique. The backdrops of the river and jungle is very well rendered on a three-dimensional field and highly detailed with a realistic feel. The characters are slightly exaggerated and remain two dimensional.

The Jungle Quest music is upbeat and fitting to the background. It is a bit quirky and catchy for the opening sequence, not the usual classical score. Minor explosion sound effects accompany the matching of ruins. The use of spells each have their own unique sound. Unfortunately, the characters speak in bubble text.

Jungle Quest is unique in its story line and variety of puzzle boards to solve. The different shapes keep the game intriguing. A preview of the board is shown in the diary. At the end of each chapter a special puzzle is presented. The puzzles are a change from the matching. Each puzzle advances the story and is instantly portrayed on the scenic jungle background.

Jungle Quest is a little disappointing for its lack of voice acting. The text bubbles are non-innovative. The puzzles are quickly solved. Helpful assistance is offered after only about fifteen seconds of non-movement.

Jungle Quest is fun and offers a nice twist on the usual matching game. The story is a good addition and keeps the game from being boring. It is a game I would consider buying.
