To begin you choose from 6 different characters and listen carefully to the long, but interesting introduction and you are one your way to your first mission in Hawaii. Sweet old Charlie is searching for the Lost Island in Hawaii, which he thoroughly explains in the introduction. Along the way he is in need of various items. Charlie then sends you on a fascinating mission to search for these items. Each mission takes place in a unique, innovative scene, that is so realistic it is easy to forget you are playing a game. Your mission usually consists of finding about 12 items scattered throughout the scene. You are given 10 minutes to complete the scene, but don’t forget you lose a significant amount of time for clicking on items not in the list. However, the 10 minutes given is usually ample and there are three hints available if you really get stuck. If time runs out, you are given the option to complete the mission, but with another list of items. Even playing the same scene a second time is a pleasure.

Each scene is creatively detailed, brightly colored and innovative. The helicopter scene is so realistic that you start to feel as if you are really there in the cockpit with old Charlie. A beach shack scene later on looks so inviting it makes you want to nap on the little cot. The graphics are far superior to most other hidden object games available. The sound quality is excellent and the music completed the island experience

Overall the items are slightly challenging to find, but the scenes are so delightful that playing at a relaxing pace favorable. You get to play a mini game, such as a variant of Mahjong, for bonus points every third mission or so. Make sure you turn up your screen brightness as high as possible since a few of the items blend well into the highly detailed and beautiful backgrounds.

In general, on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best, this game is a 5 plus. Hawaiian Explorer: Lost Island has universal appeal for young and old alike. A true stress reliever. The free 60-minute trial download certainly entices one to purchase the game immediately, as it is so addictive. Take a break and enjoy a delightful Hawaiian Island adventure
