A senator has been captured by aliens and its up to Laser Dolphin to race to the rescue. Thus the story begins. Collect gold dolphins on your way to saving the day. Race through the sea and jump land obstacles as you shoot floating mines, shooting lasers, and bomb strapped turtles. Be the hero you were meant to be, if you were a dolphin.

The game uses both the mouse and keyboard to play. The space button is for momentum, the longer held down, the faster the dolphin goes. A range target acts as the point the dolphin swims to. Either the mouse, the w, a, s, d keys, or the arrow keys can direct the dolphin. The right mouse button shoots the attached laser. There is no jump button and how high the dolphin jumps is based on how deep the dive and how fast the dolphin is moving.

There are there options of game play, story mode, trick mode and speed mode. I recommend playing speed mode first to get a feel for how the dolphin moves. In story mode, Laser Dolphin swims through the levels in increasing difficulty. As the levels advance, so does the story. In trick mode, the level is timed as you manipulate the dolphin to jump through hoops, glide at high speed to build up points. A bronze medal is required for advancement to the next. In speed mode, the dolphin is maneuvered through all the hoops as fast as possible. A bronze medal is required here to.
The excellent mechanics of the game cause the dolphin to move as a real dolphin would. Not only does Laser Dolphin swim forward, he also swims sideways, downward, upward, and even upside down. The motion is very fluid and smooth. It feels as if the dolphin is actually in the water.

The graphics of the game is moderately detailed. The golden dolphins sparkle against the darker blue water making them easy to find. The hoop are simplistic circles of balls. The mines and laser stay immobile but it’s the enemies that stand out the most.
The sound is upbeat with realistic dolphin sounds when hit. The lasers and missile fires each have their own sound which intensifies the battle. The levels basic sound does not change and becomes a bit repetitive after awhile. But it is expected, as a shooting game.

This game is innovative and addicting. I loved playing it. The realistic movements make Laser Dolphin. It is definitely a game worth buying. I rate it a 5 out of 5.
