Crumb is a game meant for young girls who still believe in fairy tales and happily ever after. In fairy tale fashion, the game begins with a princess in trouble. It is a family oriented game but much of the story might have to be read aloud to younger children.

The object of the game is to retrieve the sparkly items to open doors for the cottages to reach the next level. The game controls are very simple with a mouse click a small blue arrow points where to go on a green grass grid. Bees and angry flowers walk around as the enemies. Walking into one causes a loss of the magic crumb and to go back and get it. Moving boulders allow the character to cross water and put out flames. Once the boulder is in the water, it stays where it is. If the puzzle becomes complicated or a mistake is made, the level can be reset back to its original boulder formation.
The graphics are fairly simplistic with its pink and green colors which are far more suited for girls than boys. The puzzles contain two-tone green with a small variation of flowers and leaves. The shrubs are a darker green and act as a barrier defining the edges of the puzzle. The boulders can be frustrating to move especially if stuck in a corner. The fire is unrealistic and is a stark red compared to the other pastel colors. It is very hard to define what the magic crumbs are although they are recorded as stars.

The sound is fairly monotonous although upbeat. It did not add a lot to the game and gets quite repetitive after a while. If parents are playing with their children, they will mostly likely turn the sound off. The original sound did not vary on the levels. The story book remained silent. It would have been nice to have the book pages read out loud.

The puzzles start off fairly simple with the first few geared toward showing how to play the game. The puzzles get harder with each level as the enemies began appearing. Bees and angry flowers follow predictable paths and are easily avoided. The game is geared toward to teaching younger children problem solving.

Overall, Crumb is ideal for young children. With its easy play, bright colors, cute characters, and fairy tale story line, young girls who believe in magic will like this game. However, parents may find its game sound a bit annoying and reading the story pages will quickly grow old. I rate this game a 3 out of 5.
