The Mulver website boasts that Mulver is “pure platform fun”. While the game is a 3D platformer of sorts, it isn’t all that fun. It’s easy to see from the start that this game is cheaply put together by what must be a couple of amateur programmers. Mulver looks, feels, and sounds archaic and awkward, and contains one of the worst story lines ever: Old uncle Miggles, an off-white sphere with a beard and glasses, owes money to the sneaky King Porco, who looks like an ash pile wearing a crown. This is where the hero, a blue sphere donning an Indiana Jones hat, must collect crystals to save the day.

Archmage: An average top-down scroll n’ shoot style game that could use a little bit of work.

Let me be frank. I’ve played several good top-down shooter games, and I’ve always found them amazing fun. For about 10 minutes. In all of my gaming life, and I can account for at least 14 of them, I have only found one game to be the pinnacle of the scrolling shooter, and that is Demonstar, and none shall take it’s place.

Aside from adorable graphics, pleasant music and decent sound effects, this game is nothing more than yet another twist on Bejeweled. The background music is pleasant, not very noticeable, and the sound effects include squishing and splooshing noises which complement the cute graphics very well.

Positech Games has made some interesting simulation games in only two years of operation. It’s therefore somewhat puzzling that they would make Oval Office and then license it to Zero G Games. Unlike its predecessor, the critically-acclaimed political simulator Democracy 2, Oval Office only allows you to run the United States while offering only minor cosmetic changes. Its developer has even admitted on his own forums that “If you are here, and reading this, and you liked the OO [Oval Office] demo, you might as well buy Democracy 2.” Is it still a good game? Yes. Is it worth buying at a three dollar discount? Not really.

Yummy Drink Factory is one of the best multi-tasking games that has been put out in quite some time. Your character starts out by taking a wrong turn and stumbles upon a creepy coffee shop. You stop to get directions and decide to order a warming drink-a “double-chocolate mocha, dry, extra-hot, fat-free milk and no whipped cream”. Your character is a not-so nice young lady with a bad attitude.

Dale Hardshovel is not a character from a late-night film on cable. The game bearing his questionable name is the latest offering by Phime Studios. This archeologist is on a mission to collect the pieces of the Bloomstone, and to do that he needs to solve matching puzzles while contending with gravity at the same time. Borrowing heavily from Taito’s Puzznic (released in 1989), Dale Hardshovel offers nothing new except a stiff learning curve that only the most patient and easily-amused gamers will be willing to put up with.

Starscape is a slightly more sophisticated version Asteroids, the classic arcade came from the 1970s which by today’s standards is very simplistic. All you had to do was shoot asteroids and flying saucers with your little space ship before they destroyed you. Even today it can actually be quite fun to play asteroidsfor about 10 minutes.
