Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble is an innovative puzzle game set in a school for girls during the 1920s. In the game, you take part in a series of mini-games designed to help you increase your skills so that you will be able to solve the various mysteries and puzzles that surround the school. Although Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble is clearly geared to be most appealing to teenage girls, there are elements of the game that will appeal to gamers of both genders and of all ages.

You begin the game by choosing the type of character you want to pick for your Queen of the Gang. There is a good general selection of choices for this lead character, each one having her own strengths and weaknesses in the areas of popularity, rebellion, savvy, and glamour. These traits are important as you play through the game, because they are directly related to how well you will be able to perform in the various tasks needed to progress.

The core game play is based on the mini-games where you are constantly trying to improve your abilities to taunt, expose, fib, and flirt. Each time you win a mini-game, there are several possible things that may occur. The win may allow you increase your skills in one or more of the four main “stat” traits of popularity, rebellion, savvy, glamour. This, in turn, will help you win future mini-games. In addition, a mini-game win may allow you to bring a new girl into your gang or gain a boyfriend. It may also give you new information that you will need to solve one of the mystery puzzles in the games.

There’s not a tutorial for the game, but one isn’t really needed. The game play is intuitive enough that you can figure out what to do on your own. However, if you do have questions or get stuck, there is an information button in the corner of the screen that you can click for help.

All in all, I found the game to be an interesting diversion from other types of puzzle games. The graphics are nothing to rave about, but they are not poorly done either. I have to admit that I rather liked the music and found myself tapping my foot along to the jazzy beat. The game itself does start to get repetitive after awhile though, and I found myself wishing that there was a bit more variety to the mini-games. For this last reason, I dropped my rating of Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble to 3.5 out of 5. More complexity in the mini-games would have definitely earned the game at least 4 out of 5.
