If you love Bejeweled, you will love Puzzle Hero even more. In this game, you have to swap items so that three items with two swords are besides one another in a row or a column to enable a girl to attack a monster.

GAME PLAY (4/5):
Before I could really start swapping items, I was allowed to change the color of the girl’s hair, and her skin tone at the salon; “buy” more equipment from a shop; and to choose either a simple or difficult level.

The actual playing screen was divided into two sections. The top part showed the girl, and a monster. The bottom section was the Bejeweled-like board. Instead of jewels, the board was filled up with swords, shields, vegetables, gold, and health portions. I swapped the items as I did on Bejeweled. If I managed to get four or more items together, I would be awarded an extra round. The challenge was to get as many rows or columns of swords together to increase the number of attacks on the monster until it was defeated. The attack was depicted by an animation of the girl moving towards her opponent, and hitting it with her sword. By placing the shields together in one row, I could get a power shield for better protection. To increase the amount of my gold, I had to ensure three or more images of gold were together in a row or column.

This game was divided into a number of chapters, each having a number levels. Once I had completed a chapter, I had to select one of the two available buildings to enter the next chapter.

GRAPHICS (4/5)
The graphics for this game were good with the colorful sceneries, and animation. The cartoon-like characters gave me the impression that it was more or less a child’s game. The monsters did not look really frightening. However, there may be some age restriction due to the fighting involved. The facial expression of the girl gave me the impression that she was ready to fight.

SOUND (3/5)
The sound was good with its easy-to-listen modern theme song, and the sound effects during the game play. However, since this was some sort of a fighting game as well, I would prefer a more battle-like song like those from Hollywood.

CREATIVITY (4/5)
The producer of this game was very creative in combining a Bejeweled-like game with some animation.

INNOVATION (4/5)
The innovation I saw in this game was that I had to swap items until three or more items with two swords are grouped in a row or column to enable the main character to attack monsters, and the opportunity for me to “purchase” addition equipment to increase the character’s ability to fight and to protect herself.

In conclusion, since Puzzle Hero is quite a fun, and addictive game to play with, I give it a rating of four out of five.
