If there’s a game that has been remade to death over the years, it’s Monopoly. The tried and true formula of buying real estate and forcing other players into bankruptcy has gone through so many iterations that it’s hard to keep track of them all.

Eschalon: Book 1 is a single-player, role-playing adventure game reminiscent of those from years ago. Character creation is similar to the old D&D way you roll for your base attributes and then you have additional points to allocate. Picking from a list of skills, you are able to customize your character further in terms of what weapon, armor, and skills he will specialize in. Additionally, you also make the choices of origin, axiom and class for your character. These choices have bonuses and negative effects so that no single one is necessarily more powerful than another. This is a huge positive in my book since in this game, character development actually means something again, and you have to put some thought into what you want to be able to do before you even begin to play.

Dairy Dash is a downloadable game from Play First and a spin-off of the game Diner Dash. In the game, Mr. Smith attempts to cook dinner for his family but causes a block-wide power outage instead. Consequently, his family heads to Flo’s Diner, the diner from Diner Dash, for dinner. While there, Mrs. Smith reads a letter from Uncle Bill, who is about to lose his farm. When Mr. Smith suggests that his family spend some quality time together helping Uncle Bill, they take off, leaving Mr. Smith at the diner. Flo tells Mr. Smith that she knows of several restaurants, including her own, that want to buy produce from local farms. Mr. Smith, encouraged by Flo’s news, proceeds alone to the farm.

Honestly, when I downloaded the trial for ‘Battle of Tiles’ I didn’t expect much fun out of a game composed of tiles. I was thoroughly surprised when I started playing, though. Battle of tiles features a simple GUI, quick learning curve, and well composed game play.
If you are a beginner to the world of PC gaming Battle of Tiles offers “easy” and “very easy” difficulty settings, while at the same time offering harder settings for the more experienced player.

When I first saw this game, I was amazed. I thought to myself, what are these graphics? Hello, Spiderweb Software, this is 2008! We do not have isometric graphics in new games now. We have World of Warcraft, Halo, and Everquest. We have a lovely little thing called ADVANCED 3D ANIMATION.

Arca Archa Scindo is the coffee break classic of puzzle games. It is a simple idea of moving your avatar from your starting point to your final goal by negotiating your way around obstacles using only a few keys and your brain.

What if gravity weren’t an obstacle, shackling us to the ground, but instead a tool? What if it could be flicked on and off like a light switch? And what if your life depended on it? Stardrone by Big Fish Games challenges the player to answer those questions, all while handling the minor problem of “staying alive.”
