As an adult gamer, I admit that it isn’t always easy for me to find games that are both suitably entertaining and challenging - especially from large game clients. At the same time, I have often found time management games to be particularly compelling. Combining the pleasant stress of can-she-do-it-in-time with increasing difficulty, games like Diner Dash, Cake Mania, and The Office all create enjoyable distractions from the not-so-good stress of the day. Airport Mania, however, is not particularly good at this.

Alawar’s Hyperballoid 2 is, essentially, Arkanoid all over again. (Which in turn, is essentially.. Pong v. a Wall.) You use a mouse to move a paddle, trying to bounce a ball onto some blocks. The blocks break, and sometimes stuff falls down which you can collect or avoid. It’s a theme that’s worked for many - Alawar’s website has an entire section devoted to the genre - and has roots in the dawn of video games.

Sometimes it pays to be ambitious in the gaming industry. Trying to turn a game into a multi-genre venture may result in an epic. Or it may result in a failure. And unfortunately, Very Big Game’s Crystals of Altaxia 2 falls under the latter category.

Rating 4/5 Balls

Balloon Bliss by Vortix Game Studio is a fascinating and engaging game. At the beginning, you create a child avatar for yourself, which can be personalized. You may change the hairstyle, hair color, face shape, clothing, clothing color and gender of your avatar. There are two types of game play; story and endless. In the endless mode, you simply pop groups of balloons which are the same color. In story mode, you encounter an old lady who is selling balloons, who sends you on a quest to learn about the legend of children who can fly. You must pop the groups of balloons in this mode, as well, but you have a limited time in which to do so.

Immediately upon choosing their user name, the players are tossed into a heated battle for control of an asteroid belts rare and unique resources, and are called upon to pilot a fighter against impossible odds in order to destroy and capture rebel bases and factories, or maybe they’re piratesor bounty huntersor aliens, or is the player in fact a rouge mercenary, whose sole interest in outcome of the battle is derived from his or her lust for wealth? In either case, while the story is vaguely explained on
the developers website, Astro Avenger II does very little to explain the storyline of the game.
