Oh my goodness, this is the most fun I’ve had in a long time - I really must get a life! A variation of the popular time-management style games, Farm Frenzy is colorful, fun entertainment suitable for all children aged 7 to 70!
The setting is a farmyard and your task is to keep the animals within it well-fed, using water from the well to maintain a plentiful supply of grass, and to collect their produce which you then sell to increase your pot of money. A storage shed and a delivery van are the basic tools you are given to assist your enterprise.

The graphics are delightful as the ducks, cows and sheep move around the scene, dropping their eggs, milk and bags of wool. As the game progresses you have to purchase processing buildings to make dried eggs and cakes, butter and cheese, and to spin yarn for making fabric. Each of these processes increases the value of your produce and you must buy ever bigger storage barns and delivery vehicles in order to maximize your production and sales.
It’s not all sweetness and light down on the farm, however, as there are enormous, grizzly bears waiting to pounce on your livestock. It is your job to catch these bears, and they can be sold along with your other items to make much-needed cash in the early stages of some levels, when money is otherwise hard to come by.

The sound effects in this game are minimal but good, with realistic farm animal noises that become angry and demanding if you forget to water the grass for too long. Unfortunately, the same rather annoying tune is played constantly, although even this is quite amusing when the ducks appear to be moving in time with it.
Game-play is as manic as any other time-management game, the goals of each level becoming more and more tricky to achieve as the game progresses; it is also every bit as addictive as any other time-management game - you have been warned!
There are 10 items to upgrade and some levels are not playable until you have the required upgrades, but you can replay any level already completed in order to increase your cash to purchase upgrades. There are also a dozen farmhouses on the menu screen which are automatically developed as you move along the levels.
Farm Frenzy is essentially a repetitive game, but the animals and objectives for each level do change and it is such fun anyway that it doesn’t matter. There are 16 awards to collect - which are the cutest I have ever seen - for all manner of achievements through a range of skills, which means that every player will be rewarded with at least some of them.
This game is a creative triumph, in my opinion, and I can find no fault with it. I would definitely purchase the full product without hesitation.
