Turbo Subs Game Review by Nathaniel Edwards

Turbo Subs is a fast, fun, though unoriginal casual game from Oberon Games. The game manages the fast-paced restaurant service genre well, providing for a challenging, lasting experience. Still, the only real complaint I have is that it’s been done before, and the new game doesn’t innovate enough over Turbo Pizza to really warrant spending $20 all over again.

KingMania Game Review by Randy Scott

How does one define tedium? King Mania could well be the way. The premise and promise were there but the execution, well off with their heads! 300AD is the group behind this decidedly dull release through Reflexive. It does nothing at all to advance strategy gaming and may aid in decreasing insomnia.

Bloodties Game Review By David Williams

As an author it is always nice to be able to find something good to say about each subject on which you write. Unfortunately the subject of this article, namely the “hidden object” based game “Blood Ties” (based on the popular television series of the same name), is such a mind numbingly dull experience that on this occasion there may not be anything nice to say.

Caribbean Hideaway Game Review by James Vigg

The last hour just flew by for me, thanks to an amazing game by Oberon Media called Caribbean Hideaway. This game mixes a Match-3 Puzzle engine with a town-building game reminiscent of Age of Empires or Warcraft. It has everything one could want from a computer game: nice storyline, smooth gameplay, good graphics, likeable characters, even a Pirates of The Caribbean-style soundtrack that immerses you in the spirit of the high seas. Even the dialogue is funny (especially the parrot, you’ll find, who makes remarks like “Taxation without representation!”)

Spandex Force Game Review by Nicole Williams

Spandex Force is a puzzle and adventure game produced by Karjasoft. Spandex Force plunges you into a comic book world, and your first task is to create your comic book superhero. I am Awesome Girl, and I look way better in a comic book than I do in real life, with flowing hair and a killer body!

The tasks in the game are to rescue cats from trees, rescuing residents from falling pianos, and helping little old ladies cross the street. These tasks are completed via several mini games, many of which are variants of the classic match three puzzle game.

Darkside Arklight 2 Game Review by Nicole Williams

Whether you’re interested in science fiction or not, Darkside Arklight 2 by Pi Eye Games is a lot of fun. This arcade style game is one that is appropriate for all ages.

Plot and Setting: 4/5
The presenter of the game, a female computerized, echoed-type voice tells you that they have been mining the asteroid belt for over 200 years, but that was interrupted ever since the Krainian Empire invaded the outer colonies of their territory. Ever since, they have been losing valuable ore. It’s now your job to take their ship, the ArkLight X-52 and defend them against the enemy. I think it’s a decent plot. It gives the game a valid purpose and gives you a suitable reason for blasting away at objects and ships that are a hindrance.

Deep Blue Sea Game Review by Andrea Paulson

Deep Blue Sea is from the good folks at The Game Equation. Like Big Kanhuna Reef from Reflexive Games , the object is to move tiles to get three matching objects in a row. Because it’s also set in the ocean, the objects follow a marine life theme with starfish, jellyfish, crabs and other denizens of the deep.

“Chocolatier 2: Secret Ingredients”, a sequel to the game “Chocolatier”, has a storyline that takes place in the 1920s. You’re an industrialist of chocolate manufacturing. You start with one factory in San Francisco, California and the object of the game is to become a successful entrepreneur and own factories all over the world.

Great Tree Game Review by Andrea Paulson

When you first run The Great Tree by Reflexive, you hear the legend of the tree and the faeries whose lives depend on it. The story is engaging and I suggest you listen to it in full, as it adds to the atmosphere of The Great Tree.

And there’s a lot of atmosphere in this deceptively simple game. The mystical quality of the background music, the graphics, and even the sparkling dust that your fairy sprinkles around behind her as she flits across the screen, all serve to transport you to a magical world that humans never see.

BubbleWorld Game Review by Cynthia Heard

Remember how you were fascinated with bubbles when you were a kid? You’d blow them, pop them, and giggle. You’d blow different sized bubbles and maybe even exchange your regular wand for a shaped one. Bubbles were the best fun in the world - for about five minutes. Then you’d toss them aside and run off in search of something more fun and interesting. Unfortunately, playing BubbleWorld isn’t much different.
